Newcastle United has cancelled tickets purchased by the High School of Dundee for their Champions League match against Barcelona on September 18. The school bought 45 tickets after 110,000 fans queued for them, only to find out that these tickets were obtained through unauthorized reselling by season ticket holders, who have since had their season tickets revoked. Newcastle spokesman confirmed that the cancelled tickets would be returned to legitimate club supporters via official channels. The club’s actions aim to deter ticket profiteering and emphasize fan access, as ticket availability has become a significant concern amongst supporters. Over 78 season tickets have been cancelled this season for unauthorized sales, highlighting ongoing challenges with ticketing practices. The Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust commended the club’s efforts to ensure tickets are only in the hands of true fans.
