Cybercriminals have breached the luxury brands Balenciaga, Gucci, and Alexander McQueen, potentially exposing the private data of millions of customers, including names, contact details, and purchase histories. Kering, the parent company, confirmed that financial information was not compromised and has notified relevant data protection authorities. The hackers, identified as Shiny Hunters, claim to have accessed data from around 7.4 million unique email addresses. They allegedly negotiated a ransom in Bitcoin with Kering, which the company denies, stating it has not engaged with the attackers. This breach, which occurred in April, is part of a larger trend of attacks on luxury brands. Cybersecurity experts advise vigilance against potential scams and suggest measures to secure personal information.
